Step 1
Requirements & Product Concept
We joined then when they had an existing WordPress-based product with a problematic no-code builded mobile App. We took responsibility for transforming it into a scalable, high-performing platform.
Established start-ups that want to revamp an existing product, improve performance, and scale a content-driven subscription platform internationally.
Die Friedliche Geburt was founded on the belief that childbirth does not have to be defined by fear and pain. After experiencing difficult births herself, the founder Kristin turned her personal journey into a mission to help women experience childbirth as peaceful, self-determined, and positive. The goal was to create a digital platform that guides expecting mothers through pregnancy using proven methods such as meditation, hypnosis, podcasts, and structured online courses - accessible anytime, anywhere, even offline.
We redesigned the entire user journey and built a cross-platform mobile app that delivers Die Friedliche Geburt's content in a calm, reliable, and scalable way.The solution combines offline-capable audio and video content, structured learning modules, live sessions, and subscription logic into a single coherent system. A custom WordPress backend enables efficient content management, while the mobile apps ensure a focused, distraction-free experience during pregnancy and even during childbirth itself.

Deployment & Operation
The platform supports four distinct user types: guest users, trial users, paid subscribers, and inactive users.
The core online course is structured into four sequential modules designed to guide women step by step through pregnancy preparation. Each lesson includes video and learning material, can be marked as completed, and tracks user progress. All course content can be downloaded and accessed offline, ensuring reliability even in hospitals or low-connectivity environments.
Hypnosis content is delivered through a custom-designed audio player built for calm and focus. Over 100 hypnosis sessions are available with multiple background music options. Features such as sleep timers, automatic repeats, and offline playback support real use cases during labor, where simplicity and reliability are critical.
The integrated calendar acts as a personal diary and activity tracker. Every meditation, podcast, or video session is automatically logged. Users can review past activity by date, add personal notes, and see upcoming live sessions. This feature helps users build routine and reflect on their preparation journey.
Weekly live sessions are streamed via Vimeo Live exclusively for subscribed users. Participants can ask questions through live chat and receive guidance directly from Kristin. This creates a strong connection between digital content and real human support.
The app includes a standalone audio book that can be purchased via In-App Purchase by any user type, including guests and trial users. It consists of over 40 audio-based chapters focused on childbirth preparation. Each chapter can be downloaded individually and accessed offline. After purchase, the audio book remains permanently available in the app, offering a flexible, narrative-driven alternative to courses and subscriptions.
The biggest challenge was ensuring performance and responsiveness while relying on a WordPress based backend under increasing user load. The platform had to handle large amounts of content, high traffic peaks, and reliable offline synchronization without degrading the user experience. Standard WordPress setups are not designed for this level of performance demand, especially when media heavy content and mobile usage are involved. We had to carefully analyze bottlenecks, optimize data delivery, and redesign caching strategies while keeping the existing system stable and secure. Achieving scalability without a full rebuild required precise technical decisions and disciplined execution.
We learned that performance issues must be measured, not guessed. Introducing Redis caching, optimizing media assets, and improving local cache handling significantly reduced server response times. Security improvements such as multi step OTP and MFA based registration strengthened overall platform reliability.
These learnings show how existing systems can be scaled safely without full replacement. Partners benefit from reduced operational risk, improved performance, and sustainable growth for content heavy platforms that must evolve without disrupting users.
If your product relies on rich media and subscriptions, invest early in performance monitoring and offline strategies - they directly impact retention and trust.
What made this project special was its purpose and context. Die Friedliche Geburt is one of the few digital products actively used during childbirth itself. This demanded an exceptional level of reliability, calmness, and trust. We treated the app not just as software, but as a companion during one of the most important moments in a woman's life. Being the 360° technology partner for such a mission-driven product required full responsibility - technically, emotionally, and operationally. The result is a platform women can rely on when it matters most.
